Designed by Alvar Aalto, the Southwestern Finland Agricultural Cooperative Building was completed in 1928. The building has previously been a hotel and office. With the alteration of use, the project was renovated into a multifunctional building with a hotel, commercial premises, housing and a nursing home for the elderly. The renovation of the Agricultural Cooperative Building was completed in 2005.
The challenge was establishing the right business idea for this building of architectonic and cultural heritage value. The protection regulations also presented challenges to the alteration of use.
